So, I don't think Obama was a perfect president, but those 2
elections were the only times in my adult lifetime that I felt good voting for a
major party candidate for President. And I think Michelle Obama's efforts to
promote healthy eating were very much cool, so much, that she is one of the few
people that would make me feel star-struck, were we to meet in person.
Let's imagine every year she was First Lady, the Obamas held the
Healthy Lunchtime Challenge (.pdf file),
which invited young chefs to contribute their recipes in hopes of winning an invite
to the White House. I went many years without home Internet so the pdf files of the
Healthy Lunchtime Challenge winners helped me through lean primary election years
as I imagined traveling by pterodactyl around the country to campaign by sharing
my impressions of each state as they appeared on the calendar.
Why not let us recreate this endeavor again here, for the enjoyment of our
cherished readers, as another primary election season rolls in. I think my
pterodactyl will land one or two weeks ahead of each electoral destination's big day,
so you could realistically write me in, does that work in a primary?
I have faced several computer armageddons, so only one Healthy Lunchtime
Challenge pdf has survived. This was not the only Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, but as we approach its
10th Anniversary, the 2014 edition stands out as an exemplary year for all the
stupid jokes we made and will make again.
